The Marafun is a fun event to raise funds for good causes. All participants enter entirely at their own risk and are advised to arrange insurance to meet their own requirements. All distances are approximate. All data and pictures captured either before and on the day of the event will be stored and used for administration purposes and publicity for future events.

Frequently Asked Questions

Where are my Marafun joining instructions?

When you register, you will be sent an email confirming your entry. The email also includes links to event information, check in time, etc.

What are the event routes?

Visit the Maps page for information.

Can I register for the Marafun on the day?

It is best if you register in advance as it saves time and is more effective. If you cannot register in advance please arrive at least 45 minutes before the event start to complete registration forms and check in.

Will I receive a number in the mail, or do I collect on the day?

Race numbers are issued at the Reception desk on the day.

Are there any water stations?

There is a water station approximately every mile round the course.

Are there any loos on the route

As well as at the start and finish, there are public toilets at the junction of Carlton Parade and Court Road (2.7 miles / 4.3 km) and private loos at 79 Lynwood Grove (10.6 miles, or 6 km on the 10k route). In emergency there are several petrol stations with toliets around the route, too.

Are the distances exact?

The courses are as near to the exact distances as we can make them, but are not "formally" measured as this is primarily a fun and fund-raising event.

How many take part in the Marafun?

We normally have between 320 and 420 take part in the various events. The half-marathon tends to be the most popular, but lots of children and parents take part in the 2k and 4k too.

.

What does it cost to enter the Marafun?

We don't charge an entry fee but ask for a voluntary donation which goes to help Footsteps International care for street children and orphans. We suggest a donation of £20 for road events, and £5 for field events. You will see more options once you REGISTER

Can I raise funds for a charity other than Footsteps International or Rotary?

You can raise sponsorship for any good cause you like, but your race donation will go to help Footsteps International's work with street children and orphans in Kenya.

I would like to donate - who should I make a cheque payable to?

Footsteps International. You can also donate online after you register
